Evaporators are like radiators, but only thicker and smaller in overall size. Like radiators, evaporators consist of a series of internal tubes with fins attached to them. Its placed inside the dashboard and provides cold air for the air-conditioning system.
The evaporator coil absorbs heat into the refrigerant from the warmer air passing over the surface of the evaporator coil. The heat absorbed causes the liquid refrigerant to boil, changing it from a liquid state to a vapor state and the process is constantly repeated. The air that emerges from the air conditioner is cold as a result. Signs of a damaged evaporator includes warmer air flow, less cooling etc.
