Shock mounts are also known as strut mounts. These perform the task of securing the shock absorbers to the car’s chassis and suspension. The two points in an automobile where they are connected are the frame and the axle.

Signs of shock mounts gone bad are:

  • Abnormal noises from steering and suspension system
  • Uneven or premature tire wear
  • Quicker wearing of shock absorbers
  • Poor wheel to tire alignment
  • Poor steering returns
  • Exaggerated vibrations
  • Rattling sounds (in some cars)

The usual lifespan of shock mounts can range between 4-10 years. The smoother the road, the longer it will last.
