An engine mount is a component that keeps an automobile engine in place. Usually, 2 or 3 engine mounts are employed to secure the engine and the transmission properly. The average lifespan of engine mounting is about 5-7 years. But it is advised to get them checked whenever you get the oil changed or during the car service. The mounts are made of rubber and are sometimes even filled with liquid to minimize the vibrations.

The most common problem factor is when the mount’s rubber tears or the liquid starts leaking. The most prominent signs of a broken engine mount are:

  • increased vibration inside the car
  • increased engine noise

One may also see jumping or sudden thumps when starting the car.
