A particulate air filter is a device composed of fibrous or porous materials which removes solid particulates such as dust, pollen etc. The Engine Air Filter prevents abrasive particulate matter from entering the engine's cylinders, where it would cause mechanical wear and oil contamination. If the engine is exposed to unfiltered air, it will wear out faster. Dust is harmless in small volumes, but in large quantities it is abrasive.
Most fuel injected vehicles use a pleated paper filter element in the form of a flat panel. This filter is usually placed inside a plastic box connected to the throttle body with duct work. Changing the Air Filter as per the manufacturer recommended time interval is very essential in maintaining the right air flow to the carÆ??s engine. It will is highly beneficial in extending the engine life, better fuel economy and maintaining the optimal engine performance.
