ESP Control Unit is a crucial part of the car because it consists of the anti-braking system and the anti-traction systems. It also detects and controls the skidding movements of automobiles, making the driving smoother and safer. Thus, it is most useful when there is rainy and snowy weather. 

The average lifespan of an ESP Control Unit is supposed to be as long as your vehicle. But it may need a replacement sooner sometimes. The common indicators signaling the need for a repair or replacement are:

• the warning lights are always on
• the traction system won’t turn on or off
• below optimum performance level of the traction system
• loss of TCS and ABS features
